ugh, someone reminded me that i haven't been around LJ much ;) i'm really sorry! things are nuts and i spend most of my time on facebook!

we're settled in North Pole, Alaska (haha yeah) and it's been interesting so far. i got a job alot sooner that i expected so i've been spending the last 2 weeks getting used to that. once i get settled i think i'm going to start painting again :) yep, the bug is back haha! so we'll see ;) i will try to catch up on everyone's journals!

So, Nick got orders to Alaska.
We're leaving Del Rio at the end of February and going to Round Rock for a month. Then we're driving on up to Alaska at the beginning of April. Yes, it's going to be a loooong drive lol! We're going to Eielson AFB near Fairbanks.
It's going to be interesting, to say the least, but I will have tons of photos from my trip and even more once I get to Alaska!
I'm starting to get nervous lol

So this was my first attempt at live show photography. I'm not really happy with most of the shots, but there were alot of factors affecting it other than it being my first time. I learned alot, which is great. One thing I learned, though is beer + photography = just as bad as trying to drive drunk lmao. Other than not being able to hold the camera still, I wasn't framing out the shots as well as I would have liked (though it is hard to perfectly frame a shot when your subject is constantly on the move, it's just harder when you've been drinking lol) nor was I paying much attention to small details like the microphones or ppl's heads in the way. That railing on the stage really got on my nerves, too ;)

Normally I won't come on here and begin critiquing myself, but hey, this was a pretty big learning experience for me and I wanted to share. Though I could only wish to be as good at ppl like Fade to Black Photography, who I think is the best live-show photographer evar, everyone has to start somewhere ;) Anyway, here are my favs:

"Tambourine Lady"

At Willie Nelson's Picnic Concert, July 4th, 2008. This lady was walking the crowd playing her tambourine. The people there were an interesting mix of hippies and rednecks... thanks to good 'ol Willie.
